Blog Archive Beyond the MBA Classroom A Day at the Beach at Fuqua When you select an MBA program, you are not just choosing your learning environment, but are also making a commitment to a community. Each Thursday, we offer a window into life “beyond the MBA classroom” at a top business school. Beach Week is a four- to five-day trip held just before graduation and is only for second-year MBA students at Duke Fuqua. For many of these students, it is the last major party before they leave Fuqua and Durham to begin the next phase of their careers. Between 150 and 250 students rent beach houses within a few hours of Duke, often in Isle of Palms, South Carolina, or in the Outer Banks. The students enjoy one last hoorah, with numerous house parties, trips to nearby Charleston and Savannah, relaxing on the beach or golf course and spending as much time as possible with their classmates before the students scatter across the country and around the world.
